ABSTRACT

Chronic backache (Lumbar pain) manifests a clinical picture leading to serious problems for patients and normal population. Due to the contraction in either one or both of the sagittal and transverse width of Canalis vertebralis, medulla spinalis and cauda equina is found to be under compression. Our study is aimed to determine and put forward some of the morphometric values of bony tissues belonging to the lumbal region. 70 patients with ages ranging between 20 to 80 (35 females – 35 males) were included in the study. Corpus vertebrae anterior height (CAY), foramen vertebrae sagittal diameter (FSÇ) and foramen vertebrae transverse diameter (FTÇ) were measured and recorded in our study. We believe that the values determined in our study will contribute to the reference values laid out for Turkish population.
